CURIOUS WHO BLUEDAHLIA IS? …
Hi, I’m Meranda - a surface pattern designer, watercolor artist, and a mother to five creative little ones.
Much of my inspiration comes from the beauty I see in everyday life - the quiet textures nature brings, the tiny details of flower petals, and the playful energy of childhood. Whether I’m painting delicate florals or sketching cheerful characters, there’s often times a little one beside me with a brush in hand, creating right along with me.
Together we fill our home (and my sketchbooks) with color, imagination, and lots of joyful messes. Those are the moments that find their way into my patterns.
I create designs for fabric, wallpaper, home decor, and children’s spaces - all with the hope of bringing beauty, warmth, and a touch of happiness into the homes and hearts of others.
BEFORE I BEGAN MY DESIGN JOURNEY…
I have always been interested in one form of art or another. We are a craft loving family and have many hobbies! (Too many, according to some). Married to an amazing man who has always supported my many interests. We have 5 wonderful children together who join in on all the fun crafty moments! They’re one of my biggest inspirations!
We are an adventure loving family who loves to travel. So much inspiration to be found outdoors!
I love to dabble in various forms of art and color. Watercolor, digital art, and line art are probably my go-to’s but experimenting is always a must! You never know until you try something new!
I am a huge lover of plants and flowers! Growing up, my parents always had a garden full of veggies and beautiful blooms! Our house was a jungle at times with all of the house plants, but I believe a lot of my inspiration stems from that. No, I do not have a green thumb like my mother… but I hope to one day. For now, I will be sticking to what I know best. Art.
From 2010-2020, I was designing and sewing clothing online. I started out on Facebook and then in 2017 I started an Etsy shop. I’d designed and created what I named the Hoodzie© . It sure kept me busy. Too busy that I had to stop taking orders! So thankful for those customers though! Fast forward to 2020, and the Original Hoodzie© design has been sent to a manufacturer and it is now in the works!
January of 2020 is when I stopped producing the Hoodzie© and jumped head first into Surface Pattern Design. I was always drooling over the beautiful fabrics I worked with and so I began the journey of learning how to design my own. I’ve been hired by multiple companies since then who’ve licensed my designs either for exclusive or non-exclusive purposes! The design world opened so many doors for me! Pretty soon, I had people reaching out to me to do custom fabric designs for their clothing, wallpaper, logos, stickers, baby announcements, etc. This is literally a dream job and I am so thankful for it every day!
